Abu Dhabi Offshore Operations
Tool storage on offshore platforms near Abu Dhabi is not a simple logistics task. To be considered a true offshore-grade container, a unit must be certified to DNV 2.7-1, the global benchmark for offshore lifting and structural integrity. Without that certification, the container does not go near a crane or a vessel deck.
This project delivered a 20ft tool container to a drilling contractor staging equipment at the Mina Zayed Port marshalling yard in Abu Dhabi, before offshore loading to a platform in the Lower Zakum field. The contractor needed a container that would pass ADNOC HSE inspection at the port yard, clear the crane lift onto the supply vessel, and operate on a restricted platform deck without corrosion failure.
We built the unit at our SICD fabrication yard in Sharjah, hot-dip galvanised the full exterior, load-tested the lifting lugs, and issued the complete documentation pack. The contractor cleared port gate inspection on first submission.
DNV 2.7-1 Certified Load-Tested and Stamped
DNV 2.7-1 certified containers are constructed from special-grade mild steel and undergo rigorous testing to ensure they can withstand the harshest marine environments. Our four top-corner lifting lugs are welded, load-tested to four times the container's gross weight, and carry the safe working load stamped and certified by a third-party inspection body. The full DNV lift certificate with test results, ships with the unit to Mina Zayed Port.
Hot-Dip Galvanised Gulf Salt Air Proof
The full exterior is hot-dip galvanised after fabrication not painted. All containers are coated with marine-grade systems to prevent rust and extend lifespan in coastal and offshore conditions. Galvanising fuses zinc into the steel at a molecular level. On platforms near the Lower Zakum and Umm Shaif fields, salt spray and humidity attack painted surfaces within 12 to 18 months. A galvanised container holds through the full project lifecycle.
Internal Tool Storage Shelving and Anti-Slip Mat
The interior is fitted with two full-length steel shelving units on the long walls each shelf rated for 150kg. The floor is steel checker plate with an anti-slip rubber mat overlay. Tools, PPE, and consumables store without sliding when the supply vessel moves in the Gulf swell. The double-leaf doors have a five-point locking bar with a full perimeter rubber seal. Salt spray does not reach the contents when the doors are shut.
